Chapter I. Reamonn

It definitely was a matter of chance. A simple acquaintance at the resort by Baden lake leaded to creation of a band named Reamonn that now is one of the most popular groups in Europe. So, the beginning was more than modest: two guys, an Irish and a German, met each other and having talked a bit about their life preferences found out that both of them were musicians and had always dreamed of becoming popular and showing everybody what real music is. The one guy was Rea Garvey and the other Gomezz (or Mike). Nobody knows how exactly they met each other, but having understood that they had so much in common (single performances, little success yet and talent, of course) they realized that they'd better combine their efforts to be able to conquer the whole world by uniting into a band. To make a long story short, they began to search for suitable people someone who'd share their ambitions and be a good help in making their dream come true. So that was the way they found Sebi Rea has invited him as he was an old friend of him and certainly was a reliable man. He took synthesizer and saxophone. Sebi, in turn, brings Uwe and swears, that he never met a better guitarist. The fifth man of the team was Phil, who played bass. So, here's the band completely ready for conquering the world with its creation. The only thing to be done was to find a suitable name for the group. Isn't Reamonn a full Rea's name beautiful enough and at the same time unusual for being the name of such a splendid band? The guys decided that it really was.

At last they start working. It would seem, everything goes like clockwork. But there're some little things that make us understand: everything is not so optimistic. If you were put in studio to rehearsing musicians in this period, you would immediately run out. Constant disputes and altercations. Everybody is dissatisfied, angry with the others and in general starts to regret, that he had agreed to participate in this project. It would seem, the idea of the group is about to fail. What if Reamonn has never existed?! No need to answer this question, because the guys managed to stop arguing and try to be patient and devote themselves fully to music, having strangled the disagreements. Persistent work, constant musical searches, and, what's the most important, love to music help them very much: now they are the rallied collective of talented musicians. And their teamwork brings their music on a new level now they can really be proud of themselves. They believe in their future success. Now all they have to do is to find any record-company who believes in that, too.

Chapter II. Tuesday

Probably, about ninety per cent of present great musicians at the beginning of their way, being still unknown young people, contacted various record-labels and hoped that anyone would agree to sign any decent contract with them. And, as a rule, they received so many refusals that even an angel could lose patience. However, they didn't give up and went again. We can understand them: if you're talented and genial the world should know it! But the record-labels can be understood, too: go make out the true talent in a worthless jingling of these "promising young people", moreover with awful quality of the cartridge with demo-record. And then you can do nothing having missed such stars, cause now competitors hold them and will never let them go. Approximately in such a situation were our guys. About five refusals is not a reason to despond, but you know Rea! He is offended so much. Nobody knows, what it might lead to, but the consent to the contract has come quicker than usually - they were lucky. And the company who gave OK to cooperation was Virgin Records - it is far from being last one in this business.

A debut album is one of the most important things for a musician. Where will the guys record their disc? In Germany? In Italy? No. In England. Maybe somehow it was chosen because of Rea's roots he comes from Ireland. So, when this Irish claims something no one can argue and this time he wants to create in England. Well, the group packs suitcases and flies to Manchester. It is a little to the west of this wonderful English city, where the studio The Forge is situated the guys will go to create there. So, what about the album itself? What would it be like? Later Rea said: "Every important decision we've ever made, and just about every event that has had a bearing on our future as a band has had something to do with Tuesday". The place of birth of this album, the fact that it was the first "child" in their family or any other circumstances influenced the music in a way that can hardly be explained. The variety of sound, different styles used in songs, outstanding lyric and special themes of it, combined together made the album, without exaggeration, one of the most enjoyable CDs of it's time. And, what's the most important is, of course, the vocals. "For the last couple of years people have wanted to hear again vocalists with strong melodies" Rea goes on - "and it's no surprise that in the Nineties bands such as Radiohead, Skunk Anansie and Live were successful because they provided just that. Now it's our turn!" All these comparisons doesn't mean the desire to sing or perform like these musicians, but more likely the desire to be a similar success. Anyway, they finish recording the album in London Matrix Studio, and the next step is to find a suitable name for it. Why was the choice so strange? Why Tuesday? So simple and so unusual! Here is how the guys answer this question. First, almost all important events in their life took place exactly on Tuesday. On Tuesday they finished their album, and they all gathered together in very first time also on Tuesday. It was Tuesday when Rea arrived to Germany from Ireland, and Tuesday when they signed their contract. Finally, three of them were born on Tuesday. Indeed, this day is worth to be remembered. Second, the decision came suddenly. They were sitting in studio after recording the album and had only a demo-cassette. And the company urgently demanded to present a material. This cassette was the only thing they could present and how many cassettes do accumulate at Virgin daily? It was necessary to single it our, to name it somehow. They looked at the calendar and scratched on the cartridge the day of week - Tuesday, certainly!

The other important thing was a "right" producer Steve Lyon, who had worked with The Cure, Paradise Lost and Paul McCartney. "He was really our main choice, and once the recording got underway we realized we had the perfect team."

So, here they are the guys that call themselves Reamonn, and here's their album beautiful, strong and unpredictable.

They make a tour with such musicians as HIM and Guano Apes and during it make friends with their participants. Their song 'Supergirl' goes with triumph all over the Europe and makes people feel and understand the emotions of this deep elegant elegy. The guys were often asked, what they meant by writing this song, but they always wanted everybody who heard it to feel their own emotions. "I like to tell stories that are to some extent are based on real events, but"-he begins to grin-"you know yourself that the Irish like to spin out stories which then stretches the truth somewhat. The main thing is that the lyrics fit the feel of the song", Rea says. Frankly speaking, that was just a beginning. After 'Supergirl' they release 'Josephine', that has been accepted very well by their fans, 'Waiting There For You', that's still one of the most loved songs in Russia, shoot videos and gain more and more of really worthy popularity and love of their fans. They start thinking of the second album.

To be continued...
